Interior Health is seeking a Casual Ultrasonographer III to join our team at Golden and District Hospital (GDH). This position will be based in Golden located on the Kicking Horse and Columbia Rivers.
The town of Golden has access to some of the most amazing outdoor activities available in western Canada with world renowned white water rafting, paragliding, mountain biking, kayaking, climbing and hiking on the doorstep. The town of Golden is centrally located only 3 hours from Calgary, 5 hours from Kamloops, and 2 hours from Banff.
GDH is a small rural hospital with 8 acute beds. There is one ultrasonographer on site and two X-Ray techs. The DI department is a busy department that provides services for the Invermere area as well as Golden. The Ultrasonographer works alone as there is no radiologist on site. There are approximately 12 cases seen per day. DI exams are abdominal, Ob/Gyn, Small Parts, MSK, and some DVT. As a smaller hospital, the allied professionals are required to do our own clerical and administrative work, including patient portering. This is truly direct, font-line patient care.
This casual position will provide vacation coverage for the current ultrasonographer. Two week increments of work will be available intermittently throughout the year. As the sole ultrasonographer on shift, the successful applicant should be comfortable working alone and with varied testing throughout the day. This is the perfect position for someone who isn’t looking for full time, but wants to keep their skills current.
Once hired into a casual role, employees are eligible to apply for internal postings including part time or full time permanent positions. There are many opportunities with IH that begin with casual on-call positions and lead to regular employment.
