Kelowna General Hospital is presently seeking a Registered Dietitian for a casual opportunity. The successful candidate will be available to provide short notice, on-call availability and/or vacation relief coverage.
Kelowna General Hospital’s Nutritionist Department works with community groups, early childhood programs, school districts, organizations, health professionals, educators and local government to support and promote healthy eating. Our work aims to improve access to healthy food, improve people’s food shopping and preparation skills, and promote the social and cultural aspects of eating. We accomplish this through providing consultation on food policy development, supporting the development of new programs and services, and promoting healthy eating initiatives. Registered Dietitians also provide training and resources to support health professionals, Interior Health staff and physicians in providing the public with up to date healthy eating information
The Registered Dietitian is a member of a multidisciplinary health care team who provides nutrition care and support to individuals, patients, residents and groups.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities: • Provides nutrition services through: nutrition assessment; care planning and charting; intervention, goal setting and monitoring; counseling and education programs; consults and communicates with the multidisciplinary care teams; acts as a resource to other health professionals and communities within Interior Health. • Provides input to the Professional Practice Leader by participating in the development of nutrition practice guidelines and procedures; research and continuous quality improvement initiatives for the facility and program. • Liaises and advises food service staff on patient/resident care issues and menu development.
Please note restricted acts A, B, C are required to work in Acute Care.
Scheduled hours are Monday to Friday Days (08:00 to 15:42) with Weekends and Statutory Holidays off.
