Position Summary

We are accepting applications for the following Administrative and Clerical opportunities within various worksites located within the Interior Health geographical area and we invite applicants to self-identify as First Nation, Métis or Inuit within cover letters and/or resumes.

ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES ASSISTANT
Administrative Services Assistants perform reception and administrative support to Interior Health’s Community Integrate Health Services (CIHS). Typical duties include data entry, client scheduling, preparing routine correspondence and reports, responding to inquiries and collecting fees. The position also provides health unit aide support to CIHS programs by performing duties such as maintaining inventories of medical/surgical supplies, cleaning medical equipment and instruments and delivering supplies and biologicals to health unit as requested.

To qualify: Grade 12, a certificate from a recognized Office Administration Certificate program, plus one year recent related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Ability to type at 40 wpm. Knowledge of general office procedures. Knowledge of sterilization techniques and procedures. Current valid BC Driver’s License.


MEDICAL OFFICE ASSISTANT
Medical Office Assistants perform a variety of medical office assistant and clerical duties, such as: regular administrative and reception duties: registers patients, answers telephone, general correspondence, record keeping, chart notes, reports, medical billings, data entry and word processing, graphic and database applications, compiles and enters statistical information, records, transcribes, types, drafts, creates, updates all forms of correspondence; schedules and confirms client appointments; receives, records, checks and balances revenue transactions and petty cash; maintains medical/surgical supplies, equipment and resource material; clinical support - escorting to examination/treatment room and ensuring appropriate instruments, procedure trays or other supplies are set up; attends sensitive examination procedures and treatments; routine measurements - weight, BMI calculations, eye exams, urinalysis; cleans and sterilizes medical equipment and instruments; and delivers and disposes of supplies, biologicals, materials, and equipment.

To qualify: Grade 12, graduation from a Medical Office Assistant Certificate Program from an accredited Community College, and two years recent related experience in a health care setting or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Ability to type 40 wpm.


NURSING UNIT ASSISTANT
Nursing Unit Assistants perform a variety of clerical duties related to the operation of a patient/resident care area such as acting as a communication link for the Unit by transcribing and processing physicians’ orders, communicating with other departments and hospitals, coordinating patient/resident appointments, arranging patient/resident tests and receiving results, receiving and directing visitors, telephone answering, assembling/maintaining patient/resident charts and performing keyboarding and data entry responsibilities.

To qualify: Grade 12, medical terminology and graduation from a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk program plus one year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Ability to type 50 wpm.


PATIENT REGISTRATION CLERK
Patient Registration Clerks perform a variety of clerical duties related to receiving and registering of patients, identifying bed booking options, and cashier functions. Performs other related clerical duties.

To qualify: Grade 12, two years’ recent related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Ability to keyboard 45 wpm.


ADMITTING CLERK
Admitting clerks receive and direct patients and visitors; answer switchboard and direct calls; update, complete and process inpatient/outpatient documentation and admission forms; receive and receipt payments; perform bookkeeping functions related to resident accounts; performs other related duties as assigned.

To qualify: Grade 12, two year’s recent, related experience or a combination of education, training and experience. Ability to keyboard at 45 wpm. Knowledge of medical terminology.


DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING CLERK
Diagnostic Imaging Clerks perform a variety of clerical duties related to the work of the Diagnostic Imaging Department, such as scheduling and booking appointments, patient registration, receptionist functions, typing, requisitioning supplies, data entry and other related clerical duties.

To qualify: Grade 12 and two years' recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Ability to keyboard at 45 wpm. Knowledge of medical terminology.


HOME SUPPORT SCHEDULER
Home Support Schedulers are responsible for developing and coordinating home support service schedules by preparing and adjusting schedules in accordance with care plans and applicable collective agreements. This position schedules Community Health Workers (CHW) as authorized by clinicians by receiving referrals and service changes, enters data into computer system, and carries out timekeeping tasks such as coordinating work schedules on the scheduling software system.

To qualify: Grade 12. Graduation from a recognized Office Administration Certificate program and two years recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience. Ability to type 40 wpm. Knowledge of medical terminology.


MEDICAL TRANSCRIPTIONIST
Medical Transcriptionists transcribes, interprets and edits dictation for multiple clinical disciplines and diagnostic departments and performs related clerical duties.

To qualify: Grade 12, graduation from an approved program in medical transcription and one year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Ability to keyboard at 60 wpm.

Many of our opportunities are Casual in nature. Casual means there are no guaranteed hours and work requirements can vary from Zero to 37.5 hours per week. Casual employment includes: short-notice, on-call availability; workload coverage during a temporary absence; and/or providing relief coverage in a specific position. Once hired into a casual role, employees are eligible to apply for internal postings including permanent part-time or full time positions.
