Position Summary

A relief full time opportunity exists for an Adult Short Term Assessment and Treatment (ASTAT) Clinician to join our mental health and substance use team in Kelowna, B.C. This position provides assessment and short term counselling services on the 2nd floor of the Community Health Services Center in Kelowna.

This position will be responsible for providing counselling to the moderate functioning population in the new mental health and substance use primary care clinic. This position will be responsible for addressing both mental health and substance use concerns, with an emphasis on, and experience with, substance use disorders. This is not solely a substance use position and will see clients without substance use concerns, but will bring this knowledge and experience to the team.

The ASTAT Clinician provides, at the advanced practice level, assessment, treatment, service coordination, and as required, urgent response to the most complex clients, frequently with co-occurring disorders, who may also have serious functional impairment in the domains of physical health and personal, family, financial, occupational, and social life. The ASTAT Clinician functions as a primary clinician utilizing a variety of specialized treatment modalities/therapies for individuals, groups of clients and/or their families.

Days of work are Monday to Friday 08:00 to 16:52 with RSDO every other Monday. This position will end approximately March 15, 2020 or return of the incumbent.

Qualifications

• Masters degree from an accredited educational institution in an Allied Health, Behavioural, or Social Science field relevant to the position.

• Two (2) years’ recent related experience in a mental health and substance use environment or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

• Current valid BC Driver’s License.
