Position Summary

Interior Health’s Penticton Regional Hospital (PRH) invites applications for the role of Medical Device Reprocessing Technician/Perioperative Aide. PRH is looking for Medical Device Reprocessing Technician/Perioperative Aides knowledgeable in the detailed technical duties related to the decontamination, sterilization, reassembly, function testing and distribution of medical and/or surgical supplies/instruments for various areas of the hospital.

As member of the PRH surgical services’ team, you will assist the surgical team with the preparation of the Operating Room (OR) theaters and the positioning and preparation of the surgical patients and related supplies/equipment. Reporting to Manger, Clinical Operations Operating Room, you will draw upon your ability to prepare case carts with required supplies and equipment for each surgical procedure in accordance with the principles of infection control, decontamination, sterilization, and aseptic technique, and established policies, procedures and safety standards.

Shifts will follow a rotating schedule of Days, Evenings, or Nights. Casual employment means work requirements can vary between Zero and 37.5 hours per week. Casual employees will receive 12.6% of their straight time pay, exclusive of all premiums, in lieu of scheduled vacations and statutory holidays. Upon completion of 180 hours, you have the option of purchasing medical, dental and extended health benefit plans.

Education, Training and Experience:
Grade 12, successful completion of Sterile Processing Course, plus one year’s recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
