Position Summary

Interior Health’s Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) invites applications for a full time Operating Room Licensed Practice Nurse opening.

RIH is a 258-bed facility that serves as the referral centre for approximately 250,000 people. As a tertiary referral hospital, RIH is a no refusal centre with an Emergency Department that receives over 250 major trauma and 72,000 visits per year. As a member of the RIH Operating Room team, you will coordinate and oversee the overall care of the client and set priorities, provide clinical expertise and leadership for the plan of care, plan and implement health care treatments and interventions, and assign and delegate tasks as appropriate to other members of the healthcare team.

Reporting to Manger, Clinical Operations Operating Room, you consults, confers, and collaborates with other members of the surgical team in facilitating safe and effective surgical interventions through the performance of scrubbing and circulating duties in accordance with established standards and protocols. This includes pre-operative, operative, and post-operative activities such as assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating and documenting client care, and providing support to clients and their families.

This position is to provide coverage until January 2022, or the return of incumbent. Days of work on a rotational Days/Evenings schedule. RIH Operating Room Department: The Perioperative Department has nine OR theatres offering surgical services including General Surgery, Neurosurgery, Vascular Surgery, Otolaryngology, Ophthalmology, Plastic Surgery, Urology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and 24/7 Anesthesia coverage. Staffing complement consists of a Patient Care Coordinator, Clinical Educator, RNs, LPNs, Anesthetic Assistants, Peri-Operative Aides, and Unit Clerks.
 
Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience:

• Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses with the full range of current licensed practical nursing competencies.
• Graduation from an accredited O.R. program for Licensed Practical Nurses.
• One (1) year recent related experience working as a Licensed Practical Nurse in acute care, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Current full practicing licensure with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
• Current CPR certification required.
