Position Summary

We are looking to replenish our casual pool of Recreation Therapy Workers and seeking qualified applicants who are interested in implementing and evaluating an established Recreation Therapy Program.

Mill Site Lodge and Fischer Place, located in 100 Mile House, embodies a resident-centered philosophy designed to support residents’ choices, help people function at their highest level, and provide the best quality of life possible.

This facility has 79 private rooms, all equipped with ceiling lifts, and five short-stay beds, including one palliative care suite.

As a Recreation Therapy Worker you will carry out established individual or group leisure/recreation therapy programs, such as arts, socio-cultural events, crafts, sports, music, cooking, gardening, and exercises; setting up and organizing furnishings and equipment for programs and/or special events, portering residents to programs, teaching the techniques of related programs to residents, and overseeing the residents participation; and reporting problems/changes to supervisor. Recreation Therapy Workers work close with the facility’s volunteers. They also do bus outings and go out into the community with residents. Strong candidates will hold a valid Class IV Unrestricted BC Driver’s License with clean abstract.

Mill Site Lodge and Fischer Place have a Recreation Therapy team consisting of one Recreation Therapist and four Recreation Therapy Workers. Casual employment consists of covering vacation and sick time for regular staff. Shifts of work are rotating day and evening shifts 09:00 to 17:00, and 11:30 to 19:30.
