Position Summary

Come join our Data & Analytics Services (D&A) team as a Specialist, Data Stewardship!

About the Role:

The Specialist, Data Steward is responsible for the overall management of stewardship for the organization including its implementation and the operation of the governance practice. The Specialist is accountable for defining, implementing and enforcing accountability and responsibility of the organization’s data stakeholders with a focus on advancing data quality, governance and literacy.

Some Key Duties may include:

• Establish consistent data stewardship practices in an enterprise data environment, including areas such as data ownership, data movement standards, data access, along with technical and non-technical quality assurance standards.

• Establish a Community of Practice for Stewardship (CoP), encouraging and supporting the use of data and analytics across all levels of the organization, advocating strong data governance and data practices that lead to high quality data.

• Define roles and responsibilities related to data governance and ensure clear accountability for stewardship of the information assets.

• Coach and guide data stewards and owners through complex data management concepts in a manner that enables them to see the value of effective data management and data governance.

• Participate in the development of the Enterprise Data story and related communication activities to promote the use of high quality data across IH

• Serve as a bridge between data stewards, business innovators, data producers, data engineers, data scientists, and other knowledge workers across various parts of the organization.

• Monitoring data quality process, identifying data quality issue patterns, applying remediation plans, implementation of data controls, and manage data quality remediation strategies.

• Identify, analyze, and resolve data issues related to uniqueness, integrity, accuracy, consistency, and completeness to support business reporting requirements.

• Define and create controls and procedures to support sustainable data management and governance capabilities across the enterprise in collaboration with privacy and data governance team and technology stakeholders

• Act as expert consultant for escalated issues for data stewardship.

• Works with Data Services and Information Management/Information Technology and other IH staff to support timely, reliable, and consistent data reporting and analysis.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Training, and Experience
• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Management or Computer Engineering with completed course work in a health-related discipline, and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a healthcare setting. A Master’s degree is preferred.
• Knowledge of data governance practices, business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets and approaches related to data protection.
• Knowledge of industry leading data quality and data protection management practices
• Experience working and training users in a large complex, computerized environment
• Broad knowledge of healthcare data and analytics is a definite asset
• A minimum of five (5) years of experience in data management, linkage, analysis, interpretation, and reporting.
