- $21.66 for Booking / Cashier / Patient Registration Clerk positions
- $22.05 for Switchboard / Cashier / Registration / Health Records Clerk positions

We are seeking current and future applications from Switchboard, Reception, Patient Registration and Health Records Clerical positions as need arises throughout the year. These positions perform a variety of clerical duties associated with operating the switchboard, receiving and registering patients, processing accounts receivable, health records, cashier and inventory for the following worksites located in the Kootenay Boundary area:

• Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital in Trail, BC
Provides core medical and surgical specialty services to patients including core physician specialties, 24 emergency and trauma services, Level 2 laboratory, acute and obstetrical care, psychiatry and chemotherapy.
Patient Registration work hours, rotating Monday to Friday: 0700-1500, 1730-1530, 0830-1230.
Cashier/Patient Registration/Switchboard work hours, Monday to Friday: 0800-1200.
Switchboard Operator work hours, rotating 24/7: 0630-1830, 1830-0630.

• Kootenay Lake Hospital in Nelson, BC
Level 1 Community Hospital offering services that include surgical, inpatient and emergency.
Patient Registration work hours, rotating 7 days/week: 0645-1445, 0645-1315, 1430-2100.
Patient Booking work hours, rotating Monday to Friday: 0800-1600, 0800-1200.
Cashier work hours, Monday to Friday: 0800-1600.

• Arrow Lakes Hospital in Nakusp, BC
Level 1 Community Hospital offering services that include surgical, inpatient and emergency.
Patient Registration work hours, rotating Monday – Friday: 0800-1600, 0800-1430, 1100-1600, 1000-1400.

• Boundary District Hospital in Grand Forks, BC
Level 1 Community Hospital offering services that include surgical, inpatient and emergency.
Patient Registration/Medical Records work hours, Monday – Friday: 0730-1530.

Depending on which positions are available in which of these worksites, applicants can expect to perform the following duties:
• Operate switchboard and public address/paging systems;
• Patient registration - admitting duties, preparing identity armbands, admitting forms;
• Receive payments for a variety of patient bills and sundry accounts;
• Clerical duties - typing, compiling and distributing various documents/lists/schedules, completing data entry for pre-admissions, admissions, discharges, and transfers;
• Receive patients/visitors and direct to appropriate areas;
• Cashier duties - receiving payments; recording payments in cash journals and/or summary sheets; and issuing change and receipts;
• Maintain supply inventory by ordering stock and non-stock items for acute care;
• Receive, check and deposit patient valuables for safekeeping;
• Health records – pull and assemble charts/files, identify and process corrections, receive and process requests for release of information, review completed charts for accuracy, maintain statistics and health record tracking systems;
• Respond to and monitor hospital alarms and emergency codes.

Please note: Casual opportunities offer no guaranteed hours and work requirements can vary from 0 - 37.5 hours per week.

• One year’s recent related experience, Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience;
• Some of the positions will require you to provide a Certificate or Official Transcript showing proof of completion of a Medical Terminology Course;

• A Cover Letter stating your availability to work in which worksite(s), to start in a new position and on-call, casual work (i.e. days of the week);
• Certificates/Diplomas/Transcripts must be from accredited Schools/Colleges/Universities.
