Position Summary

Have you developed your knowledge and skills in Healthcare Facilities Management and Leadership and are looking for somewhere to fully apply this experience? Are you comfortable working in an environment that includes all levels of health care facilities, across a very large geographic region, with a heightened focus on safety, technology and customer service?

We are looking for an experienced Facilities Management Professional that can support multiple direct reports, lead various critical initiatives and remain familiar with the sites and their needs, while responding to immediate operational requirements as they arise. Although responsible for sites across the region, the position is based in Kelowna. On the shores of beautiful Okanagan Lake, Kelowna has miles of beautiful parkland and sandy beaches. The surrounding mountains, orchards and vineyards provide scenic backdrops for a wide range of outdoor activities.

Exciting Opportunity:

As the leader responsible for the overall development, operation, and direction of Plant Services for Interior Health, you will lead a management team that oversees the operation, maintenance, and upgrades of facilities and associated equipment. You play an instrumental role in the provision of quality services in a timely, cost effective manner by planning, directing, coordinating, recruiting, and providing management, leadership, and supervision of Plant Services staff and projects. Although the facilities throughout Interior Health are of varying ages and have different needs – from both infrastructure and user perspective – you will determine and promote opportunities for standardization and alignment of plant operations and processes between facilities using benchmarking, industry best practices and shared specialty resources.

This is a leadership role, so, along with your facilities management and technical knowledge and skills, you will:

• possess sound judgment and creativity in approach to problem solving and customer service
• be able to build consensus in a highly dynamic and complex organization with many stakeholders
• have excellent communication and negotiation skills to inter-relate effectively with internal and external clients and members of interdisciplinary teams
• be able to lead, guide, and direct staff while maintaining cohesion, motivation, commitment, and effectiveness
• understand the political dynamics of working in a public sector organization, and respect the public process
• be capable of managing budgets and scarce resources, understanding the importance of process and financial accountability
• be committed to providing leadership, achieving objectives, and providing quality services and effective management of resources

If you are ready to influence the facility management decisions that are required or planned for our heath care sites and feel you can add value to our goal of “building patient care”, then a career at Interior Health is right for you.
