Position Summary

Interior Health is looking for a permanent full time Lean Consultant to join our team! If you have experience in supporting and leading Lean and other quality improvement activities and are interested in expanding your career opportunities, this is the position for you!

About the Role:

As part of the Lean Promotion Office within the Quality and Patient Safety program, the Lean Consultant is responsible and accountable for leading, managing, and facilitating a variety of process improvement initiatives throughout Interior Health (IH) through the application of Lean tools, principles, and concepts. The Lean Consultant will be assigned to IH priority areas/initiatives as determined by the Lean Promotion Office. This will include leading priority areas/initiative leadership teams through the IH Lean journey process and reporting progress to stakeholders.

The Lean Consultant provides leadership, direction, and performance management to IH leadership and implementation teams.

In addition, the Lean Consultant builds client capacity through Lean education and training, as well as facilitating teams through the Lean redesign process. The Lean Consultant supports the ongoing development and implementation of Lean best practices across IH.

Some Key Duties may include:

• • Applies knowledge in Lean process improvement thinking and methodologies to execute process improvement initiatives in a wide variety of clinical and corporate settings in alignment with Interior Health’s priorities and organizational goals

• Works collaboratively with other quality and patient safety team members to ensure consistency of support and application of lean improvement and lean management methods.

• Provides education, training and facilitation on the application of Lean thinking, principles, sponsor engagement, change management principles, facilitation skills, and Lean tools and techniques.

• Educates and serves as a coach to leadership, management, and other staff, providing constructive feedback and supporting individual development toward the use of every day Lean thinking and daily management.

• Ensures the integration and necessary support of various disciplines and corporate departments in Lean initiatives.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree.
• A minimum of five years of recent, related work experience in Lean thinking and/or quality improvement.
• Knowledge and experience in supporting/leading Lean and Kaizen activities and operations (formal high level certification in Lean with a working knowledge of the Lean Management system preferred; with demonstrated experience and ability to lead a variety of Kaizen events including full improvement workshops).
• Previous experience in professional management/leadership is preferred.
• Have had ultimate responsibility for a minimum of 5 applications of Lean tools, principles, and concepts in a project or Kaizen-based approach including project design, scope, delivery, evaluation, and reporting. This experience includes having led teams through use of Lean tools including Spaghetti Diagrams, Value Stream Maps, Process Flow Mapping, and A3 problem-solving and the application of lean principles such as one piece flow, heijunka, kanban, pull systems, and jidoka, and the removal of the seven wastes in healthcare.
