Position Summary

Interior Health is seeking a casual MHSU Crisis Response Clinician to join our Mental Health & Substance Use team in Vernon. This position is part of the interdisciplinary team at the Urgent and Primary Care Centre, serving the wide community population as well as street entrenched and marginalized populations. In addition to MHSU experience, this candidate must demonstrate the ability to complete an initial comprehensive physical, psychological and socio-cultural nursing assessment of the client, to determine the client status and respond to health concerns.

In accordance with established vision and values of the organization, as well as within a client and family centered care model, the Crisis Response Clinician functions as a member of the larger Integration and Strategic Services health care team and as a member of a specific MHSU multi-disciplinary team whose purpose is to provide direct and indirect mobile crisis intervention and mental health clinical services in order to ensure that persons with serious mental health problems and/or problematic substance use or withdrawal management issues have access to timely, responsive, evidence based treatment and clinical supports across the continuum of available services.

The Crisis Response Clinician provides, at the advanced practice level, crisis response, assessment, suicide intervention, short term treatment planning, time limited case management and, as required, rapid response to clients who may also have serious functional impairment in the domains of physical health and personal, family, financial, occupational, and social life. The Urgent Response Clinician functions as a primary clinician for short periods of time utilizing a variety of specialized treatment modalities/therapies for individuals, groups of clients and/or their families.

Casual shifts are scheduled on an as-needed basis between the hours of 09:00 to 21:00.

Masters degree from an accredited educational institution in an Allied Health, Behavioural, or Social Science field relevant to the position.

Two years’ recent related experience in an in a mental health and substance use services environment or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Current valid B.C. driver’s license.
