Position Summary

Interior Health is looking for a Project Lead, South Okanagan Mental Health Substance Use. This position is located in the beautiful community of Penticton, BC. If you are interested in expanding your career opportunities and develop your leadership skills, this is the position for you!

About the Role:

The Project Lead will report to and support the Director, Clinical Operations Mental Health and Substance Use and team. The Project Lead will guide the development and implementation of activities related to program expansion to ensure safe, effective and efficient service provision and timelines for completion are met.

The Project Lead will follow standard project management practices and Interior Health (IH) processes and ensure objectives and timelines are met: control constraints (scope, time, cost, and quality); manage the initiative issues and risks; and ensure changes are properly managed and authorized. The Project Lead will lead a variety of process analysis and improvement initiatives.

The Project Lead will link with MHSU Network team members and key stakeholders, both internal and external to the Health Authority, including contracted agencies, to facilitate ongoing collaboration and effective planning, development and implementation of processes to support safe and effective expansion of internal services. Additionally, as required, the Project Lead will develop briefing papers and reports, ensuring the timely and effective implementation of decisions, and work on other specific projects, as assigned.

This is a temporary position until November 30, 2021.

Some Key Duties may include:

• Analyzes business initiatives and opportunities and provides feedback to the Director and other leaders within the MHSU program on the feasibility and requirements for the achievement of objectives; maps out alignment with future direction; and ensures initiatives are aligned with other cross-functional organizational initiatives and business/improvement strategies.

• Identifies and promotes an expedited resolution to problems or barriers to enable successful project/ change completion and transformation.

• Provides updates to the Director on the implementation of the project and issues, and prepares reports, briefings, and presentations, researching elements as required.

• Collaborates with and supports department and portfolio leaders for a coordinated and strategic approach to the planning and implementation of strategic initiatives related to the MHSU program.

• Promotes consistent processes and continuous improvement of practices for project success and alignment throughout the MHSU program.

• Collaborates with departments to identify, develop, implement, evaluate, and report on the impact and outcomes of project(s).

• On behalf of the Director, and working with other key management staff on process implementation, monitors program plans, measures progress towards goals and objectives, and identifies key factors that account for deviation from stated goals and objectives.

• Works collaboratively with change management and quality improvement experts to ensure the integration of sound change and improvement principles in all initiatives. Provides project management expertise to guide and support the implementation of initiatives.

• Liaises externally with others, including representatives of other Health Authorities, and supports and/or identifies opportunities to partner with other Health Authorities, regional entities, community agencies, and private partners in system redesign or care and service improvements.

• Leads a range of discreet projects; develops guidelines, templates, and critical activity pathways; and makes recommendations for action.

Qualifications

Education, Training, and Experience
• A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Master’s degree.
• Five years of recent, related experience, including experience at a senior level working within a complex multi-site, multi-disciplined environment, and experience in project management.
