Position Summary

We are looking for an applicant to full fill the position; Medical Device Reprocessing Technician at Cariboo Memorial Hospital.

This position is located in the growing community of Williams Lake is located amidst sparkling lakes and rolling ranch land in the heart of the Cariboo Chilcotin Region of British Columbia. As the largest city in the area, it serves as a business, industrial and service hub for outlying communities and provides employment opportunities in the forestry, mining, agriculture and tourism sectors. Home to the famous Williams Lake Stampede, this former “cow town” has grown into a vibrant city that offers its residents a comfortable blend of urban living and western charm. Horseback riding, river rafting, fishing and camping are popular recreational pursuits in the area.

Exciting Opportunity:

As the Medical Device Reprocessing Technician you will perform a series of detailed technical duties related to the decontamination, sterilization, reassembly, function testing and distribution of medical and/or surgical supplies and instruments for various areas of the hospital. You will be required to perform related clerical duties and record keeping.

At Cariboo Memorial Hospital the Surgical Services is home to Day Surgery, the Operating Room, Post Anaesthetic Room, Endoscopy and Central Sterilizing Department. There are two operating theatres, seven bay day surgery unit and a dedicated endoscopy suite. Our two general surgeons and three obstetrician/gynaecologists perform approximately 1,600 surgeries and 1,400 endoscopies a year. The staffing complement in this department consists of RNS, LPN (ORT), CSD Techs and a Booking Clerk. It is a very team-oriented, vibrant, busy area covering all aspects of patient care through the peri-operative experience.
 
Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience:

Grade 12.
Completion of a recognized Sterile Supply Processing course (please upload certificate)


Skills and Abilities:

•Knowledge of surgical and medical terminology. (will be tested)
•Mathematical aptitude.
•Ability to communicate and deal effectively with others.
•Ability to operate related equipment.
•Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
•Ability to organize work.
